1 Samuel 1

Theme of chapter: Hannah, childless, prays to the Lord for a son, and vows if she receives one she would dedicate his life to the Lord's work.

Most important verse: 1 Samuel 1:11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Most prominent word: Samuel (heard of God)

Teaching about Christ: Animal sacrifices take place here, pointing to the Christ that was to come.

Command to obey: Pray for everything and often.

Promise to claim: The Lord answers the prayers of his children.

New truth learned: Hannah prayed to God with desperation and brokeness. This seems the way of the lost unto salvation.
