1 Samuel 3

Theme of chapter: The Lord comes and speaks to Samuel

Most important verse: 1 Samuel 3:10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

Most prominent word: Shiloh (the site of Israel's early sanctuary)

Teaching about Christ: Christ calls for each one of us, it's up to us to answer him.

Command to obey: Answer the Lord's calling, be saved, and serve him. Discipline your children, bring them up rightly to fear God.

Promise to claim: Unrepentant sin is always judged.

New truth learned: Samuel has the same vision about Eli's sons being judged. It would've been a good idea to put a life insurance policy out on those two. It is now widely known all over that land that Samuel is a prophet of the Lord.
