1 Samuel 16

Theme of chapter: God chooses David, the son of Jesse, to succeed Saul as king.

Most important verse: 1 Samuel 16:12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

Most prominent word: David(beloved one)

Teaching about Christ: The Lord is concerned about our heart, not our outward appearance.

Command to obey: Don't judge yourself by your physical attributes, but by your heart.

Promise to claim: The Lords will is always done. He wants a people after his own heart.

New truth learned: Saul is on the way out now. Samuel goes and anoints David as king, and David is sent to Saul to play music for him and they become friends. David is a short man with red hair the opposite of the tall stature of Saul.
