Ruth 4

Theme of chapter: Boaz calls a quick meeting between the elders and the closer kinsman. Once the other kinsman discovers he has to marry Ruth he backs out, to Boaz's joy. He redeems her and marries her.

Most important verse: Ruth 4:15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.

Most prominent word: redeem (avenger; deliverer)

Teaching about Christ: Christ is our redeemer bought by his blood shed on the cross

Command to obey: cling to the only hope you have of salvation, that hope is Christ

Promise to claim: works nor the law will get you to heaven.

New truth learned: Boaz's and Ruth's offspring was Obed, who was the father of Jesse, who was the father of David.
