Judges 1

Theme of chapter: The weakness of the tribes is revealed after Joshua's death.

Most important verse: Joshua 1:2And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

3And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

Most prominent word: Kirjatharba (original name of Hebron; city of four)

Teaching about Christ: Christ's promises stand the test of time.

Command to obey: take the free gift the Lord has given.

Promise to claim: Compromising God's will leads to suffering.

New truth learned: The tribes of Israel are weak. They don't lay hold of God's promises and begin to compromise and then defeated in instances.
