Joshua 24

Theme of chapter: Joshua gives Israel an old testament history lesson on all that God has done for them. Gives them one final warning to only worship God and to put away idols. Finally, he dies.

Most important verse: Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Most prominent word: hornet(discouragement)

Teaching about Christ: Christ chastises his own

Command to obey: worship the one and true God, Jesus Christ.

Promise to claim: Christ will see the faithful through to the very end.

New truth learned: The people of Israel easily strayed. Joshua tells them again how important it is to only worship the one true God, and that disobeying him will be catastrophic. You get the feeling here that his words are falling on deaf ears, at least for the next generation.
