Judges 16

Theme of chapter: Samson is done in by a woman, Delilah. She gets him to tell her the source of his strength, his hair. She gets his hair cut-off, and the Philistines come in a pop his eyeballs out and is imprisoned. He spends much time in repentance imprisoned, he asks God for one more time of strength, whereby he pushes the pillars of the place they were in, the place comes down and thousands of Philistines and him are killed.

Most important verse: Judges 16:20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

Most prominent word: Delilah (tease)

Teaching about Christ: Christ is our power and strength

Command to obey: resist the temptations of the flesh. they'll do you in. the flesh is weak but God is strong. meditate on, and read the word daily (chew the cud)

Promise to claim: a mans strength is not in himself or material things, it is in Christ

New truth learned: Samson's hair really wasn't his strength. He was strong when God was with him, and was very weak when God was not with him. When his hair was cut off God departed from him. That was disobedience as God said that his hair would not be cut, and that would be a badge that he was a Nazarite unto God.
