Judges 17

Theme of chapter: Story of Micah a little rich kid momma's boy of the bible. He wasn't disciplined after stealing from his mom. His mom congratulated him instead for bringing the money back. Micah goes on to make idol's from the money that was stolen, that his mom gave him to do. I don't think she will win mother of the year. Micah still goes on to hire a preacher thinking that will bring him salvation.

Chapter illustrates a nation in decline perhaps near where our country is today.

Most important verse: Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Most prominent word: sojourn (to dwell as a stranger)

Teaching about Christ: there is no salvation in works, just the blood of Christ

Command to obey: discipline your children, that is love.

Promise to claim: there is only one right and one wrong, and that is God's right and wrong not mans.

New truth learned: there are 3 stages of the destruction of a country

1. religious apostacy

2. moral awfulness

3. political anarchy
