Deuteronomy 6

Theme of chapter: Moses shows the people of Israel that by keeping the law they will be prosperous and live long lives.

Most important verse: Deuteronomy 6: 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: (The trinity is presented here)

Most prominent word: God (lohim; the plural of majesty; plural in form but singular in meaning; represents the trinity in the above verse)

Teaching about Christ: Jesus is the second person of the trinity(Father, son, and holy spirit)

Command to obey: Be obedient to God. God loves us and we are to be obedient to his Word which shows our love for him.

Promise to claim: Obedience to God gives blessings to the person in long life and prosperity(not necessarily material)

New truth learned: Moses reminded the people how affluence brings about apathy for God, as we feel we don't need God because everything is going so well. We couldn't be more wrong. God is a jealous God and will not have his people worship other things.
