Deuteronomy 13

Theme of chapter: God has zero tolerance for idolators. In that day, they were to be stoned immediately.

Most important verse: Deuteronomy 13:10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. (people who led others away from the one true God, were treated as a cancer to be removed)

Most prominent word: stone (to execute with pelting of stones)

Teaching about Christ: there is only one true God and that is Jesus Christ

Command to obey: Put away anything that comes between you and your worship of God

Promise to claim: God has mercy for the repentant sinner

New truth learned: Idolatry was truly treated as a cancer back then. Even a friend or relative that tried to do anything to make a person turn to idolatry was immediately dealt with by stoning them.
