Deuteronomy 15

Theme of chapter: The people of Israel are to lend money to all, especially the poor and even give unto them.

Most important verse: Deuteronomy 15:11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land. (God says that the poor will always be, and we should give liberally to them)

Most prominent word: give (yield; grant; to be given)

Teaching about Christ: Christ spoke about the poor always being with you in the New Testament and he speaks of it here in the Old Testament.

Command to obey: Give with a glad heart to the poor and needy.

Promise to claim: Obedience = love to God.

New truth learned: Loans and debts were made null and void at the end of every 7 years.
