Deuteronomy 11

Theme of chapter: God requires obedience unto him for Israel to possess the promised land and to continue to stay there.

Most important verse: Deuteronomy 11:11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: (this land is not irrigated like Egypt was, this promised land is hilly and gets its water solely from rain, thus making the people of Israel dependent upon God.)

Most prominent word: blessing (God's favor and protection)

Teaching about Christ: The blessings the Lord promises the saved today are spiritual, the blessings promised to the Jews were temporal and material.

Command to obey: Obedience to God's will brings about blessings and peace. Lack there of from his children, bring chastisement.

Promise to claim: God's promises to us are spiritual, though his grace causes him to bless us in all ways.

New truth learned: Israel's experience in the promised land was based on their actions and obedience to God. It was blessings or curses for them.
