Theme of chapter: God instructs the people of Israel on clean and unclean animals.
Most important verse: Deuteronomy 14:
6 And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat. (animals with parted hooves and ate grass were permissable to eat)
Most prominent word: clean (pure, flawless)
Teaching about Christ: a picture of the body of Christ is here. the parted hooves represents the believer separated unto Christ, and the chewing of the cud represents the believer meditating and studying the Word of God.
Command to obey: Study the Word of God daily
Promise to claim: obedience brings blessing and the opposite brings curses.
New truth learned: the people of Israel had a strict diet to adhere to and manner of preparation of that food. they were under the heavy burden of the law.
