John 1

Theme of chapter: Jesus is announced as coming from eternity past to take on fleshly form. John the Baptist announces his coming and the disciples begin to flock to Jesus.

Most important verse: John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (Jesus became all human, but was still all God)

Most prominent word: Jesus (Yahweh saves)

Teaching about Christ: Christ is God, and came from eternity past to become human to die for our sins. Christ is full of grace and truth.

Command to obey: You must be born again of the spirit to become a son of God.

Promise to claim: Christ is the savior the prophets spoke of. Belief on him grants eternal life.

New truth learned: Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist until John pointed to Jesus as the Christ. Whereby he went and got Simon his brother to follow Jesus from then on.
