John 21

Theme of chapter: Epilogue of the Gospel of John

Most important verse: John 21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.(Jesus will ask this of us one day. What have you done for me?)

Most prominent word: lovest;love (Jesus asked Simon did he lovest him, the highest form of the word in translation, Simon responded with love, the translation that meant just some affection. Simon was humbled at this time because he had denied Jesus 3 times when Jesus was apprehended.

Teaching about Christ: Jesus loves his own and has a plan for each one of us.

Command to obey: Don't be lazy or an armchair Christian, do the work of the Lord.

Promise to claim: The Lord is risen and at the right hand of the Father.

New truth learned: Simon Peter and some of the other disciples still didn't recognize the Lord when he appeared to them by the seashore. John who had spiritual discernment had to point out that the one calling them was Jesus.
